£4billion hotel opens to public

Summary:
A new hotel opened in Singapore. This is a one of a kind hotel because it is a futuristic five star building and it has a huge skypark on top of the building. The huge hotel consists of 2560 rooms and suites, shopping areas, theatres and cinemas. The structure is worth a whopping 3.8 billion pound. The president of the hotel expects to attract around the 70.000 visitors each day which will make over 18 million a year. Many famous artists come to perform at the hotel, for example yesterday singing legend Diana Ross performed in front of 2500 VIPs.

Opinion:
I was interested when I saw the picture that came with this article. It looked really amazing and a bit scary even. If I would have the money for it I’d so go on a holiday to that hotel in Singapore. It all sounds really cool and extremely rare. No prices are shown in the article but I think I won’t be going there in the near future with the amount of money I make at the moment. But reading this article makes me really interested in that hotel so I would have to say I like the article. The slide show that is in the article as well is really astonishing and makes me want to go there.

A YOUNG fashion model was found dead in her bed by her boyfriend this morning.

Summary:
A 23 year old model was found dead this morning. Local authorities ruled out foul play even though it still remains a question mark on how or why she died. An investigation is currently going on to find out on how the women died. Hayley Anne Crook was rather famous since she has done loads of modeling work for major brands such as Wella Hair Care. She also worked as a actress and a dancer and she also performed in a touring musical Abba Fever. Her sudden death still remains a mystery.

Opinion:
This article is rubbish. People die every day and with weirder circumstances then this one. I don’t see what makes this case so special that it needs to be published in a newspaper. After reading this you find out nothing new about the death. All you read is a biography of Hayley Anne Crook. In the last sentence of the article they say that nothing is known about the cause of death….. If they would have said this in the beginning of the article you could just skip the rest. This was a waste of my time reading this article.

Extreme tennis: the demands of a 10-hour game

Summary:
Something extreme happened yesterday. In the Wimbledon court a 10 hour long tennis match took place. The two players, John Isner and Nicolas Mahut, were completely worn out after the 10 hours of play. It was decided to continue the match today after they played a shocking 59 -59 deadlock. Keeping their health in mind, in today’s match they will take it a bit more easy because they aren’t a 100% recovered from yesterdays match. It is important they take their time between points and to make sure that their breathing is right to avoid long term injuries.

Opinion:
I was really excited when I read this article. How cool is it to play for so extremely long in a row and neither one of the players is able to win. I am so going to watch this match on the television today. I do think the players should give some attention to their health because it is unnatural to play tennis for 10 hours straight. In some ways I think it could be dangerous. The information given besides the match information is rather interesting as well because suddenly a whole new area of interests opens up with a match like this one.

Pension age: Ministers to speed up rise to 66

Summary:
The government of the UK wants to raise the state pension age for men to 66 and they want to change it rather quickly. Plans are mad that before 2016 the age limit will already be changed. The pensions system, which Britain was so proud of, needs a rapid change because currently it leaves millions in poverty. That is why the government wants to change the age to 66 and perhaps even to 68. The coalition argues about whether this should be speeded up. According to some this change is unacceptable because the ‘workclass’ has a life expectancy of 77 years for men and 81 for women.

Opinion:
I totally disagree with the planning of this new change. 65 years of work should be enough for a person, male or female. If someone is expected to die around the age of 77 then the government should grand them the freedom to do whatever they want in those 12 years of pension time. If it was me and I would have to work the same factory job for another 3 to 4 years instead of living of my pension fund I’d be really pissed and so I can understand the public’s feeling around this matter.

Four British soldiers die in Afghanistan road accident

Summary:
And another four British soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan. With these four new deaths the total number of soldiers killed in Afghanistan stands at 307. The four soldiers were traveling to a nearby checkpoint where an incident occurred where they wanted to help. They were killed near Gereshk last Wednesday evening. The soldiers were traveling in an armoured vehicle which rolled off the road and ended up in the water. The Ministry of Defence announced that no enemy actions were involved with the accident. The UK will stay a 100% committed to the UK’s mission in Afghanistan.

Opinion:
Wars cause people to die. Just something you have to live with. It’s a shame British soldiers have to die all the way in Afghanistan though for some cause that isn’t to important anymore. Most soldiers dying over there are mostly meaningless deaths. If it was up to me everyone would pack up their stuff and get the hell out of Afghanistan. But my opinion doesn’t matter of course because the UK is staying in Afghanistan to fight more for justice.

Watchdog backs sex lessons for five-year-olds

Summary:
Currently in the UK the sexual education that is given is rated rather bad by students. It is either not enough or not good enough. Now the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) announced they want to start a new campaign in which sexual education is given to youngsters from the age of five and older. NICE officials announced that sexual education is more effective when introduced to young people before they have sex. Specialists give multiple reasons why it would be good to start giving sexual education to younger people.

Opinion:
Sexual education is way too early to be given to children who are only five years old. Their little minds are not ready for that kind of information and they should not be exposed to it yet. It would be better to start at the age of eight or nine in my opinion. Of course young people start having sex earlier and earlier each year but i still do not think it would be a good idea to start at the age of five. In my opinion everyone should just make sure that the sexual education given now is better than it was before and that we make sure parents have the right information as well at their disposal to straighten their children out if something does go wrong.
